I started her training the first day home - (she was ten weeks) - I thought her learning some commands would make her feel more confident - that she understood the rules.

I am not exaggerating when I tell you first day, 5 minutes, she had Sit locked down.
Second day, Down.
Third day, Stay.
By the FOURTH DAY HOME, I could put her in a Sit/Stay and LEAVE THE ROOM.
She wouldn't move a muscle until I came back and released her.

Told my husband - don't tell anyone she's a dog genius - let them think I am a genius dog trainer.
 
We train in 5 minute increments about 4-5 times a day.
I am huge believer in NILF training.
He already sits and maintains eye contact until I release him to eat.
Sleeps through the night in the crate, and only needs to be pottied twice a day at work.
He has learned that the office is where we are calm.
I ADORE a smart dog!
Especially one that wants to please you.
